The Netherlands are a soccer nation and although their international achievements are few and far between, soccer is still very much alive in the capital, particularly through the club of Ajax Amsterdam.
The Amsterdam Arena is the Ajax stadium and the stadium of the national team. Oranjes) and it's a place not to be missed if you love soccer, but not only! Here's its history and the events that take place there!
Introducing the Amsterdam Arena
Construction of the Amsterdam Arena has begun in 1993The new stadium was officially opened on August 14, 1996, for a friendly match between Ajax Amsterdam and AC Milan. The stadium replaced the De Meer stadium, which had become too small for the club.
The the country's largest stadiumwith its 68,000 seats (56,000 for matches). The stadium hosts not only soccer matches, but also musical events (festivals) and concerts by international stars.
Called Amsterdam Arena until 2018, the stadium has been renamed Johan Cruyff Arena in 2019, in tribute to the country's greatest ever footballer (and one of the best players in the history of soccer), who died in 2016.

Without being a must-do activity in AmsterdamA visit to the stadium can be interesting, especially if you're accompanied by an adult. young soccer fan or if you're a football fan yourself.

How do I get to the Johan Cruyff Arena?
The Amsterdam Arena (or Johan Cruyff Arena) is located at the following address: Johan Cruijff Boulevard 1, 1100 DL Amsterdam
It's in the eastern part of the city, and the easiest way to get to the stadium is to take the Amsterdam metro. Line 52 or 54to the stop Bijlmer ArenA.

Rates and booking
- Classic ticket: from 14 euros (child) to 20 euros (adult) with audio guide / from 16 euros (child) to 22.50 euros (adult) with guided tour
- VIP ticket (with scarf and drink): 55 euros / adult - 25 euros / child
We recommend that you reserve your ticket in advance to ensure a place. You can do so directly on the Stadium's official website.

Opening hours
Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm / Saturday and Sunday, 9am to 6pm.
Count between 1 h 30 and 2h for the full tour.
