That said, Amsterdam offers a plethora of seasonal activities in April. It's actually one of the best times of the year to visit the city.
Celebrate King's Day
In fact, one of the best days of the year to visit Amsterdam is King's Day, which is the day on which the city's most important tourist attractions are inaugurated. celebrates the birth of King Willem-Alexander.
On this national holiday, known as Koningsdag in Dutch, you don't need a license to trade, so you'll find people in the parks and streets selling everything from vintage furniture to second-hand clothes.
There are also a number of fashion shows, and almost everyone wears the Dutch national color, orange.
Enjoy the tulip season
As the days get longer, the temperature on the thermometer starts to rise and the nights get shorter, there's perhaps no better way to enjoy spring in the Netherlands than by going in search of flowers.
Tulip season is well and truly in full swing at the beginning of April. Some of the best Places to see tulips in Amsterdam include a visit to the Amsterdam Tulip Museum and a day trip to the fields of Lisse.
Search for hidden gems
A visit in April means better weather, which means you can explore more of the outdoors, including some of the Dutch capital's most hidden gems.
Hortus Botanicus is one of Amsterdam's best secret spots. This garden can be visited and was created in the 17ᵉ century!
Visit Amsterdam's Hofjes
When it comes to exploring the Dutch capital, it often seems as if no stone has been left unturned. From dance houses to major museums, the city is packed with must-see attractions and must-visit destinations.
However, if you're looking for an oasis of calm in the center of the city, you can always hide away in some of the most beautiful Hofjes of Amsterdam, many of which are best visited in spring when the buds are in bloom. Most of the best hofjes are located in the district of Jordaan.
Take a canal cruise
Another way to enjoy Amsterdam in spring is to soak up the magnificent views and ambience of a gentle boat trip by embarking on a canal cruise. If you're a couple, this is a romantic activity not to be missed.
