The marathon route
One of the most distinctive features of the Amsterdam Marathon is its unique course, which winds its way through the heart of the city. through emblematic canals of the city. Runners have the opportunity to discover the cobbled streets, picturesque bridges and exceptional cityscapes for which Amsterdam is famous.
Starting near the Olympic Museum, the route passes through historic districts such as the Jordaan district and the De Pijp. Participants can expect to be enchanted by the sight of channels and historic buildings throughout the race as the Rijksmuseumthe Vondel Park or the banks of the the Amstelthe river from which the town takes its name.

The marathon takes place every third Sunday in October. In 2024 so it will take place on October 20.
How to get there
As most roads are closed for the occasion, we recommend that you book a hotel for the weekend. If your schedule doesn't allow it, you can still get to Amsterdam by car and park in one of the P+R parking lotsThe new, more modern
Alternatively, you can reach the capital via the train or Eurostar, you'll arrive at the main station, where you'll have just a few minutes to walk to the race course and cheer on the athletes from all over the world!
