As well as hosting many of the biggest names in international jazz, Bimhuis also provides a venue for conservatory students, emerging musicians and experimental projects.
New and exciting rhythms and sounds from all over the world are greatly encouraged. The venue hosts workshops and jam sessions that promote the intimate atmosphere of the venue.

A place dedicated to jazz music
Conceived by pianist Misha Mengelberg, saxophonist Hans Dufler and percussionist Willem Breuker, Bimhuis was installed in a former furniture store in Oudeschans.
The room, which has been purified right down to the concrete walls and floor, gave jazz and improv musicians a place of their own.
Bimhuis has attracted many big names to its stage, including :
- Charles Mingus
- Pharoah Sanders
- Sun Ra
The venue underwent a major renovation in 1984, transforming it into an amphitheatre, before being moved to its new location in the Muziekgebouw complex in 2005, close to the main station.
Bimhuis: concerts and shows all year round
With up to 300 concerts a year, Bimhuis presents Dutch and international jazz musicians.
The venue is state-of-the-art, with excellent acoustics in all rooms. its intimate amphitheatre seating just over 200.
In addition to fabulous music, Bimhuis offers :

Tuesday evenings are jam sessions, and the level of musicianship is exceptional. With the North Sea Jazz Festival, which takes place in Rotterdam every July, many of the world's biggest jazz names also visit the Bimhuis, so it's the perfect time for a visit.
A cocktail bar to refresh you
On site, you can cool off in the bar and enjoy a range of cocktails. The place has a bit of a speakeasy atmosphere. You'll find plenty of strong spirits to try while you let yourself be carried away by the bar's jazz ambience.
You can also enjoy non-alcoholic cocktails for a relaxed evening with friends.

You can visit us on site:
- Sunday to Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.
- Wednesday to Saturday 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.
