If you're in a more remote area, insurance may still be an option you should consider.
On the other hand, if you've hired a boat with an experienced captain, there's no need to consider insurance: all legal responsibilities rest with the captain.
In general, insurance deductibles are equal to the deposit you pay for the boat. So, if you pay a deposit of 200 euros and have an accident while you're at the helm, expect to pay a deductible of 200 euros.
