The Vondelpark, closest to the museums

Introducing the Vondelpark
Visit Vondelpark is a huge park (48 hectares), located in the southwest of the city. It's the largest park in the Netherlands, and has been part of the daily life of Amsterdammers since 1865.
It has been declared national monument in 1996 and attracts almost 10 million visitors every year! I invite you to visit the park and enjoy its flora and fauna, its beautiful walkways and landscaped areas.
Good to know You can rent bicycles in the park and discover it on foot, at your own pace!
Hortus Botanicus, Amsterdam's botanical garden

Introducing the Amsterdam Botanical Gardens
This is one of the Europe's oldest botanical gardensIt opened in 1638. More than six thousand trees and plants from the 4 corners of the world can be found here, in various greenhouses with different climates and gardens.
Don't miss the palm grove and the cactus greenhouses, and the butterfly greenhouseThe tour will take around 1h30.
Good to know: the botanical garden is just a stone's throw from the famous ARTIS Amsterdam Zooa must-see!
Oosterpark, a family park in Amsterdam

Located in the east of the capital, not far from the Zoo and Botanical Gardens, Oosterpark is a landscaped urban park that provides a haven of peace in the heart of the city. You can enjoy a drink at the youth hostel, cross paths with storks or lounge by the lake.

Flevopark, a vast park for nature walks

Flevo Park opened in 1931 on the east side of the city, along the canalAnd part of its charm comes from the water that borders it on one side. Well-structured, it has all the amenities you need for a good time with the family.
You will find a distillery of Gin, herbal liqueurs and other fruit spirits, which you can visit, and Amsterdam Jewish cemetery (And don't forget to visit the Jewish districtvery interesting).

Introducing the Amsterlpark
This is one of Amsterdam's prettiest parks, with its mill at the entrancewith its flower-lined alleys, small cafés and numerous activities for children. It is mainly frequented by the city's residents, and is therefore preserved from the influx of tourists.
It is located south side (see the Interactive map of Amsterdam) and will be a breath of fresh air for lovers of greenery and tranquillity.
A 15-minute walk will take you to the unusual museum The Upside Down, Amsterdam with inverted setsthat will delight fans of wacky selfies.

You can easily let your steps carry you through Amsterdam's parks on aimless strolls. However, I two activities to help you make the most of your visits:
- Rent a bike to get around the parks like a local. It's the capital's favorite means of transport, and everything is done, in the parks and elsewhere, to make life easier for cyclists.
- Organize a picnic in one of its parks, to enjoy the fine weather. A change from restaurants! Spend some quality time with the family, or take a romantic break as a couple, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. red light district or the city's liveliest districts!
