Keukenhof, the world's largest flower park!
The Dutch tradition of growing the tulip is not new and visit Amsterdam without discovering this passion for these colorful flowers is unthinkable!
That's good, because Keukenhof Floral Park is only 30 kilometers from the capital of the Netherlands. It is the world's largest floral park in terms of surface area, with its 32 hectares on which are distributed 7 million tulips !
Keukenhof Floral Park presentation
The Keukenhof floral park is located in the village of Smoothabout 30 km from Amsterdam. Its name means kitchen courtyard and it comes from the use made of it by Jacqueline of Bavaria in the 15th century. The Countess used it as a vegetable garden!
During the Nineteenth century that the owners at the time, Baron and Baroness Van Pallandt, decided to entrust the restructuring to architects David and Louis-Paul Zocher (father and son), who drew their inspiration from the english gardens. He still has that style today.
From 1949, Keukenhof hosts exhibitions by growers and sellers of bulbous flowers (like the tulip!) and opens to the public. in 1950. It was a great success, with over 200,000 visitors in its first year!
This vast floral park is now home to up to 1.4 million of visitors every spring. Keukenhof is a park that only opens in spring, for around 2 weeks, when the most beautiful flowers are in bloom.
To fill up on color, take magnificent photos and discover sublime fields of tulipsof daffodils or hyacinths, it's a question of a visit worth making a must for your stay in Amsterdam!

How do I get to Keukenhof Park?
Keukenhof Park is located 30 km southwest of Amsterdam at the following address: Stationsweg 166A, 2161 AM Lisse
The easiest way to get there is to opt for the excursion and its round-trip shuttle. Departure is from This Is Hollandin Amsterdam's northern district (Overhoeksplein 51, 1031 KS Amsterdam).
But there are several other ways to reach the park:
- Visit busvia lines 341 and 397 from Amsterdam, changing at Hoofddorp station for bus 859 to Keukenhof
- Via a express shuttle since Schiphol which connects the airport to Keukenhof
- Visit carbecause a parking is provided for parking. It costs 6 euros.

To ensure that you are able to visit the park during your stay, it is important that you reserve your place. You can do this online, and receive your confirmation immediately on your mobile devices. All you have to do is present your digital tickets at the entrance!

What makes the Keukenhof so special is that it only opens 8 weeks a year. So don't miss this opening period, and plan ahead when planning your stay.
In 2023, the announced dates are : March 23 to May 14.
The park will be open from 8.00 am to 7.30 pm, with last entry at 6.30 pm.
