The Magna Plaza building: a whole history
The building was designed in the neo-Gothic style by a late 19th-century Dutch architect, PCPeters.
It was a time when another famous Dutch architect, Petrus JH Cuypers, had just finished building the Rijksmuseum (1885) and the Central Station (1889).
Today, the building has lost none of its grandeur. However, it now houses a popular shopping center.
Shopping at Magna Plaza
Magna Plaza is a pretty little shopping center. Right in the middle of the first floor, a grand piano has been placed. At weekends or on public holidays, you can hear a few keys of music ringing throughout the establishment.
To the right of the entrance you'll find the souvenir store, and to the left a kiosk with Dutch cheese for tourists. Among the items you can find, you'll be able to choose between :
- Gouda cheese
- Edam cheese
- A wide choice of wines.
Clothes for every taste
All the world's major fashion brands are represented in the stores, which are spread over three floors. However, there are also simpler stores such as :
- Spanish womenswear brand Mango
- American casual wear, America Today
- GSUS jeans boutique

On the upper floors you will find :
- Clothes
- Shoes
- Two interior design boutiques
- A multimedia store
- The Svarovski boutique
- Several gift stores
- A boutique for traditional wooden toys
- Rudolpho's, a skateboarders' store selling clothes, shoes and boards.
If you're hungry or thirsty, you'll also find an Italian brasserie and an Italian café-bar.
Where is Magna Plaza in Amsterdam?
Magna Plaza is located on the corner of Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal, Raadhuisstraat and Spuistraat.
You can get there from the Amsterdam Central Station by :

What are the store opening hours?
If you want to do some shopping, you can visit :
- Monday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Sunday noon to 7 p.m.
