Find a cheap parking in Amsterdam can be quite a challenge.
Parking spaces are scarce and in the city center, you'll easily pay €7.50 for an hour's parking.
But there are alternatives for those who need to park their car in the capital.

Just outside the Amsterdam ring road, there are P+R sites at almost every exit. You can park your car there for very little money. The locations Amsterdam P+R are :

How to use P + R in Amsterdam
To take advantage of cheap parking at a P+R, you must travel to the P+R by GVB public transport (tramway, bus or metro) or by train.
If you continue your journey by another mode of transport, you pay the normal P+R fare. All P+R sites are of course free of charge. served by public transport.
From the Noord P+R, you can walk directly to the metro and five minutes later you're at the Amsterdam Central Station.
Cheap parking in Amsterdam: how much does it cost??
You pay only 1 euro per 24 h at a P+R site when you drive on Saturday, Sunday or a public holiday. What's more, from Monday to Friday, you pay the same rate if you arrive after 10 a.m.
After that, you can park for up to 96 hours (4 days), with the exception of the RAI P+R, where you can park for up to 24 hours. If you drive from Monday to Friday before 10 a.m. (i.e. during rush hours), you pay 8 euros for the first 24 hours.
For the next 72 hours, you pay 1 euro per 24 hours. After 96 hours, you always pay the most expensive standard parking rate at the P+R site. This rate varies according to P+R location.
Take advantage of open-air parking
Is the P+R full, or is there some other reason why you can't or don't want to park your car there? Then you can park your car on the street.
Parking rates for public parking vary according to the parking zone. In the center of Amsterdam, you pay the most. To park your car for one hour, you will be charged €7.50.
In the ring around the center (also the areas fairly close to the center), you pay €6.00 per hour. It's still quite expensive.
In the areas behind the freeway, you generally pay €4.50 an hour, and as you move away from the city center, the hourly rate drops to a minimum of €2.50.
Cheapest parking lot in Amsterdam on the ring road: Noord
Would you like to park on the street close to the center without paying the highest price? In Amsterdam Noord, parking charges are only €1.40 per hour.
However, partly due to the construction of the Noord-Zuid-lijn and the rising cost of parking in the city center, parking is very difficult to come by.
That's why there's often a maximum parking time at locations near the ferry to Amsterdam Central Station.
Cheap parking in Amsterdam: the cheapest parking lots
Do you want to keep your car dry in a downtown parking lot, but don't want to pay a lot of money? Then the Parking Center Oosterdok, near Central Station, could be just the place for you.
If you want to park in the center of Amsterdam for more than six hours, this parking lot offers a daily rate. from €5 to €15.
To benefit from this reduced rate, you must reserve your parking space in advance and pay via the parking lot's website. There are 100 spaces available daily.
