Mer Amsterdam : Discover Zandvoort beach
Zandvoort beach has been awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness and safety. In summer, the sand is full of people enjoying the sun. In autumn and winter, residents and visitors alike enjoy the "uitwaaien", a Dutch word meaning "sun". walk in the fresh air on a slightly chilly day.
Zandvoort's beach boasts a wide promenade and numerous beach pavilions, some of which are located in the heart of the town. remain open all year round. During your visit to Zandvoort, you can enjoy a drink at the Nautical Club or one of the many other clubs on the premises.

Amsterdam beach stretches from Zandvoort to IJmuiden in a continuous strip of sand. For much of this distance, it backs onto the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park.
At the northern end of the beach, at IJmuiden, the sandy strip becomes even wider, which means there's plenty of space for water sports activities.
If walking on the beach isn't enough excitement for you, at IJmuiden beach you can learn to surf, kitesurf, sail or try blokarting.

IJmuiden beach also boasts excellent beach bars, perfect for relaxing after enjoying the wind and waves. The Beach Inn is open all year round and has held the seal of approval since 2015. for its commitment to sustainability.

History buffs will love Amsterdam's beaches. Indeed, the place is still marked by the various events that took place in Holland.
Discover the Atlantic Wall
In 1942, Hitler ordered the construction of the Atlantic Wall. This was a chain of fortifications along the North Sea, the English Channel and the Atlantic coast, stretching through Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium and France to the Spanish border.
You can visit the bunkers built during this period. all along the coast of Amsterdam beach.
Well-preserved bunkers at IJmuiden
The best place to see the bunkers is in IJmuiden. You can visit the bunker museum here, where 6 preserved underground bunkers tell the story of the Atlantic Wall.
There are also a number of warships on the surface. You can then wandering through the dunes, then coming across these concrete carcasses. A unique atmosphere to experience near Amsterdam.
Fort Island: a UNESCO World Heritage Site
Located at the entrance to the port of IJmuiden, Fort Island is intriguing and mysterious. From the moment you board the boat to the island, you'll feel a special atmosphere.
Fort Island has stood on the site since the late 1800s as part of the Amsterdam Defense Ring (Stelling van Amsterdam), a ring of 46 forts and batteries designed to protect the Dutch capital.
The entire ring of forts has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996.
Fort Island is the largest fort in the Amsterdam defense ring, and a fascinating and strangely beautiful place. History buffs will be delighted to discover this 150-year-old site.
