Visit Spa Zuiver is an authentic Dutch spa close to the heart of Amsterdam.
There are many similar spas scattered throughout the Netherlands.
However, the Zuiver is still a safe bet if you want to relax on your Amsterdam vacation.
Today, I'd like to tell you more about this establishment.
Spa Zuiver: article summary
Spa Zuiver: the different relaxation zones
On site, you can take advantage of various relaxation areas. For example, I recommend the on-site Finnish sauna. After sweating it out in the Finnish sauna at 85°C for 20 minutes, plunge into the deep, icy pool.
It's physically refreshing and gets the blood flowing vigorously throughout your body. The most "relaxing" saunas are around 60°C.
Variations include herbal infusions and steam baths, which are perfect for to cleanse the lungs and open skin pores.
A wide range of treatments
Among the treatments offered at Spa Zuiver, you'll find a variety of treatments that will help you make the most of your time with us. an exceptional moment during your vacation.
Spa Zuiver: the Japanese sauna
It's a small sauna with Japanese bamboo decor and relaxing Asian instrumental music in the background. The temperature is around 70°C.
The Color Sauna
Every color can help your body. On site, you can take :
- turquoise to unlock your muscles
- red for greater confidence
- blue for relaxation
- yellow to relieve headaches
Of course, not everyone believes that color can affect mood. When it comes to headache relief, sitting in almost any sauna can help. However, it won't cost you a thing to try.
Le Caldarium
This sauna provides you with around 40°C (or less). Caldariums are more for meditation and relaxation. It's simply a warm, comfortable room where you can lie down.
There may also be a slight increase in humidity and herbal oil fragrances.
Spa Zuiver: sauna with fireplace
Certainly one of the best saunas at Spa Zuiver. There's a spa employee who makes the rounds every few hours to add extra wood to the fire in the sauna.
It's quite intense without being very hot. To give you an idea, it's a bit like sitting in front of a fireplace at home in winter: it's both relaxing and you enjoy a good sweat session. What's more, your clothes won't smell like burnt ash afterwards.
The Music Sauna
Enjoy relaxing music at low volume, while sitting in a relatively mild environment with high humidity (around 60°C). You'll sweat just the same in this relaxing, softly-lit environment.
The indoor steam bath
It's not hard to love the intense humidity and warm temperature of a real steam bath. You can't see more than 1 or 2 metres aheadThe blue light adds to the ambience.
Spa Zuiver: the outdoor steam bath
This area is cooler than the indoor steam bath. A spa employee temporarily heats the room, for +-15 minutes, by by pouring water over the sauna stones and diffusing the heat with a towel.
After your spa treatment, you can apply ice to your body next to the steam bath. If you wish, you can also refresh yourself by pouring a bucket of ice water over your body.
How do I get to the Zuiver spa?
Spa Zuiver is easily accessible by bus from the main station. You can also try the bike and arrive on site in about 30 minutes. You can use your own vehicle.
There is a parking at the spa. Even if you've only got one long stopover to make Schiphol airportYou could spend a few hours at Spa Zuiver before your next flight. It's a very good remedy against travel stress.
A few more tips
In summer, everyone relaxes outside on sun loungers to soak up the sun. But in winter, jacuzzis are more popular and offer a little warmth in cold weather.
To keep warm outside in freezing winter weather, bring your own bathrobe (or rent one from the spa). This is not compulsory for the sauna area, but only for the restaurant and lounge bar.
However, a towel and a pair of slippers are mandatory at all times. In summer, a bathrobe is not required. if you plan to visit the restaurant.
What are the opening hours?
Opening hours are 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. all week and until 11:30 pm Fridays and Saturdays.
Spending time at the Zuiver spa is an exceptional experience that I recommend you make if you have a little time to kill on your Amsterdam vacation.
