Here we go!
Tattoo in Amsterdam: article summary
Tattoo in Amsterdam: Ester de Bodine at The 9 Muses
Owner of The 9 Muses, an incredible tattoo store, Bodine is one of Amsterdam's best-known tattoo artists.
Bodine is an expert at tattooing dark, strange and abstract pieces, as well as twisted versions of pop culture characters.
Although she mainly tattoos in black and grey, she also manages color in a unique way.
Incredible inspiration and style
She often mixes her inspiration with old-school American and Japanese tattoo styles, but these pieces remain distinctly and recognizably his own.
However, not all her work is dark (far from it). Many of his pieces explore softer, cuter themes, but it's the darker subjects that really showcase his unique imagination.
Katya Slonenko at Slon Salon
Owner of the magnificent Slon Salon in Amsterdam, Katya Slonenko is truly a high-level artist.
Slonenko has a style that's hard to put into words. Bright and colorful, it's a unique, vibrant and incredible style that you'll find in this living room.
A unique style
Although she excels in works depicting cute and cuddly creatures, her best-known work is the one that pays tribute to urban landscapes, streets and architecture.
Slonenko has an eye for miniature landscapes: an Amsterdam street, a country house, an iconic skyline. These tattoos are like nothing you've ever seen before. Enough to make you a unique tattoo during your visit to Amsterdam.
Tattoo in Amsterdam: Alberto DF Tattoo
What makes Alberto one of Amsterdam's most unique and outstanding tattoo artists is his dedication to the craft of true, old-fashioned tattooing.
His work is traditional, from start to finish. If you too love the timeless style of the golden age of tattoo art, you have to get a tattoo from Alberto.
Working with a color palette almost entirely black, white and red, Alberto creates truly original and imaginative pieces.
Traditional motifs
Hearts, skulls, roses, geishas, snakes, masks, moths and other classic motifs. But Alberto twists them a little and makes them his own.
There is a subtle surrealism in his work, because he takes liberties with his creations to make them look like no other.
Alberto is a tattoo artist who shows how you can pay homage to the heritage of tattooing while being totally and refreshingly original. It's incredible work.
Marcel at the Black Rose Tattoo
Marcel tattoos at Black Rose Tattoo, a store with a solid reputation that could well be the best tattoo store in Amsterdam.
It happens to be one of the best (if not the best) neo-traditional tattoo artists currently working.
His work is dark and bold, with a minimalist use of color, but many textures that breathe and have an almost three-dimensional quality.
It's the kind of art that moves you and leaves you breathless.
Colors come to life
Marcel excels in producing black and gray pieces, each with a bold color: a blood red or an incredible glacier blue.
His most beautiful creations are those depicting people's faces and heads, mixed with natural images:
- Animals
- Flowers
- Leaves
- Suns
- Moons
These are beautiful neo-traditional tattoos, and Marcel is easily one of Amsterdam's best tattoo artists.
