Celebrate <em>Oud &amp; Nieuw<\/em> with my ideas and recommendations!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Treat yourself to a fine Dutch meal<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>On the evening of <strong>December 31<\/strong>most <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjouramsterdam.fr\/en\/restaurant-amsterdam\/\">good restaurants in Amsterdam<\/a> are offering special menus for New Year's Eve. It's a chance to discover a little-known gastronomy, with a few special treats reserved for the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Among the small <strong>local specialities<\/strong> don't miss the apple fritters (<em>appelflappen<\/em>) and oliebollen, which are similar to the delicious <em>sonhos <\/em>Portuguese (for connoisseurs!), who you'll come across in one of the town's stalls.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Enjoy the outdoor decorations<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Amsterdam is a beautiful city all year round, but it's all decked out in lights at the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>On your New Year's Eve in Amsterdam, you'll see the bridges shine, <strong>facades flashing<\/strong> and some of the main monuments decked out in their finest finery.<\/p>\n<p>Take a stroll through <strong>the liveliest neighborhoods<\/strong> (like <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjouramsterdam.fr\/en\/jordaan-district-amsterdam\/\">Jordaan<\/a> or the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjouramsterdam.fr\/en\/red-light-district-2\/\">red-light district<\/a>), to enjoy the festive atmosphere.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>A cruise to enjoy the fireworks<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>As in most capital cities, Amsterdam is home to some of the world's most spectacular fireworks displays. While it's possible to enjoy them amidst the crowds, from the city's main squares, I find that the best way to admire them is to <strong>from the canals<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>To do this, you can take part in <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjouramsterdam.fr\/en\/amsterdam-cruise\/\">a cruise<\/a>. Just let the water lull you to sleep and look up at midnight!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Taking part in street festivities<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>From <strong>concerts and entertainment<\/strong> are organized throughout the city. In general, the Museumplein (where the main <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjouramsterdam.fr\/en\/amsterdam-museum\/\">Amsterdam museums<\/a>) is particularly lively, with DJs, a skating rink and food and drink stalls.<\/p>\n<p>Other areas, such as the RAI Amsterdam (see <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjouramsterdam.fr\/en\/amsterdam-map\/\">my interactive map<\/a>) are transformed into a party zone that evening. This is where the Winter Paradise festival takes place every December, culminating in New Year's Eve!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Drink, dance and gamble the night away<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>There's no shortage of fun to be had in Amsterdam, and you can spend the night in a variety of establishments conducive to partying or entertainment. Here are just a few tips on how to make the most of it!<\/p>\n<h3>Book in advance!<\/h3>\n<p>You're not the only one who wants to spend New Year's Day in Amsterdam! It's essential to <strong>book your plane ticket<\/strong> and your <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjouramsterdam.fr\/en\/hotel-amsterdam\/\">hotel room<\/a> early enough. Then you can get busy finding a good restaurant for your party!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Wear warm, protective clothing<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In Amsterdam, in December, it can rain and, above all, it will be cold. <strong>quite cold<\/strong>. Just remember to wear the clothes best suited to the season so you don't freeze on your New Year's Eve!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Anticipating the 1<sup>er<\/sup> January<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Those who don't return immediately after New Year's Eve can enjoy the city, which is fairly quiet on this day.
