Amsterdam Festival of Lights <strong>takes place in town from November to the end of January<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>You can see dozens of stunning light installations along the canals and in lesser-known parts of the city. It's located on the little-known NDSM island, <strong>accessible by free ferry<\/strong>. The restaurant is built in old shipping containers and has a fabulous alternative atmosphere. The menu is excellent, as are the cocktails.<\/p>\n<p>Pllek has also <strong>a small town beach<\/strong> where, in winter, a bonfire is organized. Order a drink and enjoy a breathtaking view of Amsterdam.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc138953404\"><\/a><b>Amsterdam in winter: ice skating<\/b><b><\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Ice skating on the Amsterdam canals is great fun. Every few winters, there are enough freezing nights for Amsterdam's canals to freeze over and become safe enough for ice skating. <strong>for ice skating.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Be sure to check whether the canals are officially approved for this type of recreation by the city before venturing out.<\/p>\n<p>But not every winter is cold enough for the canals to freeze over. But don't despair if you fancy ice skating in Amsterdam. Every winter, numerous ice rinks spring up around the city.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc138940260\"><\/a><strong>Amsterdam Christmas Markets<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>I love Christmas markets, and although Amsterdam doesn't have as many as you might expect, you can of course get your gl\u00fchweinfix when you come to Amsterdam in winter. The biggest market is at the ice rink near the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjouramsterdam.fr\/en\/rijksmuseum\/\">Rijksmuseum<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The week before Christmas, you can buy the best Christmas presents in Kromhouthal and enjoy gl\u00fchwein. <strong>If you're looking for something less traditional<\/strong>Westergasfabriek's Funky Xmas Market is the place for you. Designers, artists and other creatives sell their impressive creations to the public.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc138940261\"><\/a><strong>Enjoy seasonal Dutch cuisine<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>How about a good homemade soup? If you're looking for the best soups in Amsterdam, I'd recommend Moeders at <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjouramsterdam.fr\/en\/jordaan-district-amsterdam\/\">Jordaan<\/a>. You'll find delicious recipes you've never tasted before!<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc138940262\"><\/a><strong>Amsterdam in winter: a good fondue<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Fondue isn't typically Dutch, but it's a popular dish in Amsterdam during the festive season. It's the perfect dish to warm you up. It goes without saying that you should go <strong>order from Fondue &amp; Fondue.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc138940263\"><\/a><strong>Oliebollen snack<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Oliebollen are a typical Dutch winter treat, especially for New Year's Eve. Many locals will have bought tickets for New Year's Eve parties, but it's really not necessary.<\/p>\n<p>Stroll around Dam Square, Leidseplein or Nieuwmarkt <strong>for the countdown to the new year<\/strong>.
