On the way up, you'll be treated to an animation about the mites living on your eyelashes and on your skin. <strong>the even smaller bacteria living on these mites!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The first-floor exhibition takes place in a darkened area and resembles a scientific laboratory, with numerous microscopes and glass containers. Immerse yourself in the world of the infinitely small as soon as you arrive.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc145391439\"><\/a><strong>Micropia: exceptional interactive exhibits<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Numerous interactive exhibits are available, including :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A <strong>body scanner<\/strong> which can show you what types of microbes live on your body<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>Kiss-o-meter<\/strong> which counts the number of microbes transferred during a kiss<\/li>\n<li>An impressive and colorful exhibition of <strong>Petri dishes<\/strong> containing a variety of bacteria as well as everyday household items and what's hidden inside<\/li>\n<li>A complete collection of <strong>animal manure<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>A <strong>human digestive system <\/strong>preserved<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What's more, on site, you'll see films of various decomposing animals.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc145391440\"><\/a><strong>Get closer to the action<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>There's a real laboratory on site. Through a window, you can see scientists in white coats undertaking research projects and <strong>manage the various exhibitions.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can then spend several minutes observing the hard work of people who want to know more about the infinitely small.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc145391441\"><\/a><strong>Micropia: continue your tour on the lower floors<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Various other displays and information on bacteria, viruses, fungi and algae are placed throughout the museum. A fully interactive space, you are given a card that you can \"stamp\" with microbes and examine later under a scanner.<\/p>\n<p>Descend the spiral staircase to the first floor, where the exhibition continues. A large row of screens <strong>shows impressive images of microbes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Important everyday microbes<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In the first floor exhibition, you'll learn how microbes are essential to life:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How seaweed is used in various products<\/li>\n<li>How microbes are used to make food, biofuels and bioplastics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are also interesting exhibits on decomposing food. What you <strong>exploring all facets of the infinitely small<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc145391442\"><\/a><strong>Micropia: a place for science and art<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>On site, you'll discover The Fungal Wall. This is a large-scale work by Dutch artist Lizan Freijsen, using woollen rugs inspired by the beauty of the invisible life around us.<\/p>\n<p>A real <strong>a work of art not to be missed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc145391443\"><\/a><strong>What are Micropia's opening hours?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>You can visit us on site:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Every day <strong>10 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc145391444\"><\/a><strong>How much does admission cost?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>To visit this exhibition, you will need :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>17,50\u00a0\u20ac<\/strong> for adults<\/li>\n<li><strong>10\u00a0\u20ac<\/strong> for students<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Free admission for children aged 0 to 12, holders of the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjouramsterdam.fr\/en\/amsterdam-museum-pass\/\">Museumkaart<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjouramsterdam.fr\/en\/i-amsterdam-city-card\/\">I Amsterdam City Card<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You can also choose a ticket combining Artis and Micropia. The latter cost<strong> 31 per adult.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc145391445\"><\/a><strong>How do I get there?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Micropia is within easy walking distance of the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjouramsterdam.fr\/en\/amsterdam-city-center\/\">Amsterdam center<\/a>. Head for Waterlooplein and continue east along Middenlaan.<\/p>\n<p>From Amsterdam Central, take the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjouramsterdam.fr\/en\/tramway-amsterdam\/\">streetcar\u00a0<\/a>14 to ARTIS stop.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the <a href=\"https:\/\/bonjouramsterdam.fr\/en\/amsterdam-metro\/\">metro\u00a0<\/a>51, 53 and 54 also serve Waterlooplein.<\/p>\n<p>A visit to Micropia is sure to open your eyes to the hidden world of microbes. I advise you to plan your visit for the early afternoon. You don't want to get there before lunch.
