Fabrique des lumières Amsterdam: the largest digital art center in the Netherlands!
Amsterdam's factory of enlightenment a unique venueand is one of museums the city's most impressive.
The idea is simple: bringing the finest works of art to life using technology to do it. The interior of the building is covered with famous paintings, which move rhythmically thanks to subtle plays of light and color.
The a different way to see the masterpieces of various artists, in the impressive building that houses this factory of lights. It's an industrial building known as the Westergasfabriekbuilt in 1885, whose architecture has been preserved.
You'll see it by its red brick façade and its 17-metre high ceiling. A dimension that lends scale to the works on display, which are projected onto these immense walls thanks to more than 100 video projectors !
With over 3,800 m2 exhibition (including floors and walls), there's plenty of space to enjoy and immerse yourself in what can only be considered a true art show! Some visitors will even tell you that you feel as if you've entered the minds of the featured artists, with state-of-the-art technology bringing each work to life with music, light and movement.
It's all part of of the most unusual experiences in Amsterdam, along with Ice Bar or the Heineken Experience !
What can you see in Amsterdam's Fabrique des lumières?
One of the highlights of the Amsterdam light factory is that exhibitions are constantly changing. Even if you've already visited the city and this museum, you'll be able to come back and discover new things.
In 2022, two artists were given pride of place: Gustave Klimt and Hundertwasser :
- The exhibition dedicated to Klimt takes visitors on a journey through 19th-century Vienna, with portraits, nudes and landscapes painted by the artist or those inspired by him. Among the wonders on display are The Kiss by Klimt, to be admired in a new light
- The other exhibition is devoted to the Viennese painter (and architect) Friedensreich Hundertwasser. It allows us to better understand the artist's creative process and to see the links with Klimt, in the art of the artist.
In 2023, the first exhibition at Amsterdam's Factory of Light is dedicated to the Dutch-British photographer Jimmy Nelson. It allows us to immerse ourselves in the traditional culture of the Netherlands, with its customs and habits of the world's indigenous peoples.
Immense landscapes and portraits move before your eyes to a sensory experience that perfectly fulfills its mission: to amaze you!

Amsterdam's light factory is just around the corner. 2 km west of the city center, at the following address: Pazzanistraat 37, 1014 DB Amsterdam
You can get there easily via :
- Visit busline 21 from Gare Centrale, stop Van Hallstraat/Westergasfabriek
- With the streetcar N°5, stop Van Limburg Stirumplein or to Hallstraat/Westergasfabriek
- By bikewith the possibility of parking bicycles in dedicated parking lots!

Here's what you need to know before heading to the Amsterdam Factory of Lights to make the most of it!
Rates and booking
- Adult ticket: 15 euros
- Children's ticket (5-17 years): 11 euros
- Student rate: €12
- Free for children 4 and under
When you book online, you'll benefit from a ticket ticket-breaker so you don't have to wait in line. Simply reserve your visit date and time slot, and receive your tickets immediately on your mobile devices.
All you have to do is present them at the ticket office to get in and enjoy this crazy experience!
Opening hours
The Fabrique des Lumières opens every day 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.Some exhibitions are open until 9pm.
Allow 1 to 2 hours inside to complete the tour.
Practical information
The ticket entitles you to a locker to leave your personal belongings at the entrance, as luggage and strollers are not allowed inside.
Even children can enjoy the experience, which is far more entertaining for them than a visit to the Van Gogh museum or the Rijksmuseum.
