The Pantry in Amsterdam: at a glance
Furnished with wooden tables and chairs, the interior is simple. A cosy atmosphere is created by subdued lighting and artificial fruit and real flowers on the walls.
The Pantry offers an open menu available in 6 different languages, soon to include Chinese. Traditional dishes are illustrated by a Dutch flag next to the name of the dish.
These include "Herring" and "Stamppotten": a dish of mashed potatoes mixed with vegetables and sausages.
An incredible wine list
They also offer an extensive wine list of different countries, with red wine presented in a wine case.
Once you've ordered, you can enjoy your wine and your company in comfort, with popular music playing softly in the background.

You can choose between two options: hot or cold starters. Some cold starters are ideal for a hot day.
They include :
- Smoked eel on toast
- Salted herring with pickled onions
- A selection of three sausages.
Hot starters include classics such as :
- Tomato soup
- Dutch meatballs
- Dutch shrimp croquettes
Enjoy traditional Dutch cuisine
The menu is dotted with traditional Dutch dishes. Apparently, the locals love mashed potatoes.
You can enjoy Boerenkoolstamppot with smoked sausages or meatballs. It's mashed potatoes mixed with kale.
You can eat Hutspot with sausages or meatballs, which is mashed potatoes mixed with cooked beef, carrots and onions.
On the menu, you can also find Zuurkoolstamppot with sausages and meatballs. It's mashed potatoes with sauerkraut.
One of the most interesting items on this menu is the Marrowfat. Here, prepare to enjoy a crispy baked cutlet served with peas, pickles and applesauce.
The Pantry in Amsterdam: filling meat dishes
If traditional Dutch cuisine seems a little too potato-centric, try some meat dishes.
On site, you can try their Dutch steak. It's 200g of meat with fried mushrooms, onions and mixed vegetables.
They also satay chicken with a peanut sauce for Indonesian flavors. The dish comes with French fries and salad.
Fish dishes for connoisseurs
Fish dishes are what The Pantry does best. Enjoy a fillet of sea bass with fresh herbs or salmon fillet in lobster bisque.
Their petite sole with ravigote sauce is to die for. Serve with potatoes or vegetables, as you wish.
The Pantry in Amsterdam: an astonishing dessert menu
The establishment offers a variety of surprising desserts. Enjoy an apple tart with whipped cream, mini crêpes served with powdered sugar, or a dessert of your choice. Boerenjongens ice cream with whipped cream.
The latter is vanilla ice cream with rum-soaked raisins. They offer a chocolate mousse with eggnog, a selection of cookies and a cheese platter for those who don't like anything too sweet.

You'll find this charming family restaurant in Leidseplein. The easiest way is to take the streetcar 2 or 12 and get off at Leidseplein station.

- Monday to Friday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
